Sleep Helpdesk Questions and Answers
I know that you probably have questions and concerns about the The Baby Sleep Site™ program and how my Sleep Helpdesk works. I am always available through email for questions regarding how my sleep consultation services and products can help you. If you don’t see your question listed in the FAQ below (or if you just want to get to know me better) feel free to contact us anytime!
“Will you just tell me to let my baby or toddler cry it out like other coaches / programs?”
Absolutely not! In fact, I would estimate that 90-95% of my clients do NOT let their child cry it out and if it’s not part of your philosophy as a parent, I won’t recommend it (it won’t work anyway). Even parents who have tried cry it out and weren’t able to get it to work have come to me for non-crying solutions. If you do want to try cry-it-out, I can help you formulate a plan that you can get on board with and most importantly, stick with! There are many strategies out there and I customize one just for your family and your unique situation.
“What package do you recommend?”
You would be surprised how much we can accomplish in just one e-mail, so sometimes just the two-email package is enough and very affordable and I would encourage anyone on a tight budget to avoid settling for sleep deprivation and at least get some help. However, sometimes for a specific situation, it helps to have more time to work on various issues, allowing time for us to come up with a solid plan and tweak along the way once we see how your baby or toddler responds. For those situations, if you have the budget, and for the most bang for your buck, I would recommend the five or ten e-mail package, where some can be saved for later when new issues come up and it saves you money down the line. For those that have a difficult situation RIGHT NOW and you need ongoing help and support, the 30 day unlimited package allows us the best potential for maximum success, allowing me daily updates to your progress and allows for us to make tweaks along the way.
If you’d like to e-mail me an overview of your problem, I’d be happy to give you a recommendation and I promise it’s not always the biggest package and sometimes I only adjust your expectations and not recommend anything at all!
“Do you work internationally? What is the Exchange Rate? Are Payments Secure?”
Yes! I work with people all over the world. I’ve worked with people here in the U.S. (where I’m based), Canada, South Africa, Australia, South America, and United Kingdom (U.K.), just to name a few. For your security, all payments are handled by PayPal, so your credit card information is secure with PayPal and not stored on our servers. PayPal handles all of the exchange fees, which is competitive with other consumer services. To learn more, please visit PayPal’s information on Multiple Currencies. They will display the exchange before you complete your transaction.
“Are you a doctor? Do you have any type of certification?”
I do not hold any certifications and while I know that doctors can become “sleep specialists”, I am not a doctor nor a nurse and don’t plan to become either of those. I am simply a mom who found her way and help other parents find their way faster than I did. I am the first to say that you should talk to your doctor first and foremost. I have been helping other parents for years now and I simply have a knack for it. It’s not that I have any more knowledge than you can really gain by reading numerous books, it’s just that I have a knack for coming up with a customized plan for your unique situation and for your unique baby, taking into consideration your history and your baby’s personality. It’s just how I’ve put it all together and the way I explain it to others that seems to work. It’s NOT that most parents can’t have the know-how, it’s that you’re usually just too tired to do it! And, some parents simply need help to keep them going because of how easy it is to give up and keep changing what you’re trying. That’s where I come in to give advice *and* support while you go through it. I also use all my knowledge and experience gained by helping other parents and that’s something that you just can’t read in a book. It’s very hard to know who to trust on the internet, so always keep in mind that I do guarantee my services (see below). You can read the parent stories of happy parents and I honestly haven’t had anyone tell me they did not get value from my service. I’d love to help you and your family, too! I can tell you I’ve worked with some parents who have been to doctors and other sleep consultants and are very happy when they’ve finally found me.
“What is your guarantee?”
I 100% guarantee all of my products and services which means if you are unhappy for any reason, I will provide you with a full refund (within 60 days and first two e-mail exchanges). I do not guarantee perfect sleepers because our success is dependent on your baby’s personality and your implementation of the plan, too. Also, babies grow and change a LOT in the first few years, so it would be impossible for me to guarantee you will not have any issues down the road. Any sleep consultant that does guarantee this, you should be wary of. If it sounds too good to be true, it is. I can guarantee a great service, quick turnaround, solid recommendations, and ongoing support. I have been where you are and it’s not fun. It remains near and dear to my heart as if it were yesterday.
“How long do I have to use up my e-mail?”
E-mail never expire. Save them for 2 months, 6 months, 5 years, etc. Save them for child #2 or child #4.
“What time zone are you in? How quickly will I get a response to my questions?”
I am located in the Eastern Standard Time Zone. My response time to Helpdesk submissions is between 24 and 48 hours, with a possible faster turnover rate depending on how many other people have requested assistance. All questions are answered in the order they were received, with higher priority given to unlimited e-mail packages.
“Do you work on weekends?”
Yes, but in an effort to maintain a better work-life balance, weekend replies aren’t always within the standard 48-hour turnaround and e-mail submitted after 5 p.m. EST on Friday will be answered on the following Monday. Sleep problems aren’t limited to Monday through Friday, so neither is my help and support, but I do try to give my boys my undivided attention on the weekends. I know you understand! This does NOT apply to unlimited packages, which will get a reply within 1 and 12 hours, depending on time of day, including weekends.
“How do the unlimited e-mail subscription packages work?”
The unlimited e-mail packages are designed to give you maximum support during your journey. You can send one e-mail a day or ten and I respond as quickly as possible to each one. Unlimited e-mail packages get higher priority than any other package, so you do not have to wait the 24-48 hours between each response. The only limit to how many times we e-mail each other is time in a day and our own sleep. A major benefit of the Helpdesk is that I can access it from any computer and my mobile device allows me to get Helpdesk e-mail immediately, so I know if you need a prompt reply and can send e-mail from any location.
“If I don’t purchase an unlimited email subscription package, will I be charged for every email you send me through the Helpdesk?”
No. Based on your purchase, you can open one Helpdesk “ticket” or many and I charge for my response to you. In your “ticket” your task is to ask me questions or address issues in your child’s sleep journey. I may come back and ask clarifying questions, offer you some moral support, or simply ask to hear back from you regarding your progress. You are never charged for these types of emails, since it is a part of my process to give you a strong support system. If, however, a new question or issue arises – even within the same “ticket” – you will be charged accordingly.
“If you ask me a clarifying question, will I have to wait another 24-48 hours for a response?”
No. Once you’ve submitted your request for assistance, you remain at the top of the list until that situation is resolved. I will respond as quickly as I can!
“Don’t you ever take time off?”
Yes, I typically take two one-week vacations each year. However, I always notify all active clients ahead of time so that there are no surprises. My vacations will also be posted on the website.
I look forward to working with you and your family! Please contact us directly if you have any additional concerns or questions.
