My name is Nicole Johnson and I am a married mother of two wonderful boys, as well as the Lead Sleep Consultant and founder of The Baby Sleep Site®.
When my eldest son was a baby, he had a lot of sleep problems. Sleep like a baby? Yeah, right! I hope your baby never sleeps like my baby did (though if you’re here, it might be too late!). He would wake up every one or two hours, all night long. I had to do so much to get him through the night.
When I was trying to help my son sleep, it was important to me to keep breastfeeding and I wanted to feel good about the process of teaching him this life skill. By thoroughly reading books and researching key literature and scientific reports, I helped my son sleep better and then I started helping others. I became an expert in sleep methods, scheduling routines, baby’s development needs, and more. I overcame my son’s sleeping issues in a way that matched my own parenting style, and knew it was my mission to help other tired parents “find their child’s sleep.” And, now I’ve been successfully doing that for over a decade!
Do you feel alone in your sleep struggles? Do you feel like so many others have figured out how to help their baby sleep, but you haven’t? Do you feel like a failure?
I know I did! I felt alone, like my baby was the only one who didn’t sleep well, and I was the only one who couldn’t figure it out!
But, I wasn’t alone and neither are you! Over 1.5 million other parents just like you visit The Baby Sleep Site® monthly. I started all this by leading an Internet-based message board and helped countless parents just like you overcome their own sleeping challenges much quicker and faster than I had. I then created this website in 2008 and expanded my offerings to include e-books, a blog, and personalized sleep consulting services. The feedback from around the world has been incredible! I would love to help you with your challenges, too.
What makes us different?
So many books and other websites tell you there is one way to fix your baby’s sleep and only one definition of “success.” That’s not true! Your journey and what you deem “successful” are as unique as your child. We don’t offer one-size-fits-all advice or pass judgment on your parenting philosophies. We personalize your journey and help you find YOUR success! We don’t judge you. We support you.
You can meet your team of sleep consultants below and consider us a virtual extension of your village.
“My husband and I were coming towards the end of our rope!! Our beautiful son Marcos had trouble STAYING asleep since birth, and after 8 grueling months of waking up as many as 15 times a night, we finally decided we couldn´t take it anymore. Then we found Nicole. She has been a GODSEND to our family, helping us with step by step advice that is well researched, nurturing and proven effective. She gave us a method that worked for our family, and encouraged us to stay the course. Anytime we needed her help throughout the process, she was ALWAYS right there. Our son is sleeping 12 hours a night now, EVERY NIGHT, and takes 3 naps a day, each over an hour long. Before Nicole, we were lucky if we got 20 minutes!! We cannot EVER thank her enough for her professionalism, knowledge and compassion. Don´t think about this twice, reach out to Nicole….YOUR LIFE WILL CHANGE!”

About the Team
Eventually, demand grew too large for me to help all of you all by myself. But, my primary mission is to help as many other parents as possible who also may feel alone in their sleep struggles. So, I decided to teach my unique style of sleep coaching to other brilliant professionals. I trained my first sleep consultant to join my team (who you will meet below) back in 2011 and now we have a proprietary training program that each sleep consultant goes through. It takes at least 3 months and over 300 hours of training to become a sleep consultant for The Baby Sleep Site®. In addition, each sleep consultant works directly with the rest of the team (and me), so we can continually consider different and unique perspectives as well as tap into the various backgrounds we each bring to the table.
I have made it a point to round out your “village” with sleep consultants who have varied backgrounds including pediatric nutrition and nursing, legal, Lactation Consultants, Licensed Social Workers and Counselors, as well as individuals with early intervention and personal experience for our families of children with special needs. You don’t just get one sleep consultant, but a team at your disposal.

Katherine joined The Baby Sleep Site® in 2015. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Women’s Studies and is also a Licensed Professional Nurse with over 10 years of pediatric experience. Trying to work full time at the office and being a first time mom proved difficult when her first (very spirited!) daughter experienced nursing challenges, such as tongue tie, failure to thrive, and reflux and refused to eat for her day caregiver. Compounded by sleep issues, it left for an exhausted household. Katherine did extensive research to help solve her daughter’s numerous sleep issues. She tried numerous strategies to help both her daughter and her household regain some sleep and sanity. This led to her commitment to support families who face their own unique sleep challenges. Katherine now has three daughters and they keep her busy with dance parties and art projects. When she can, she loves to explore new countries, read, and cook.
Shaye joined The Baby Sleep Site® in November of 2011. She has a Bachelor of Science in journalism and is a licensed attorney. She has worked as a lawyer in both the private and non-profit sector, but mostly in the not-for-profit sector helping families facing crisis. She has always had a passion for problem solving and helping others so moving into sleep consulting has been a natural transition. She also is the mother of a beautiful little girl that keeps her busy. Together, they learned to overcome both reflux and sleep issues so that they all get the rest they deserve and need! When she isn’t working for The Baby Sleep Site she enjoys spending time with her family, yoga, traveling and tackling just about any do-it-yourself project.
Daniella joined The Baby Sleep Site® in August 2013. She is originally from Brazil and has a Bachelor’s in Communication Studies and a background in education. She began taking courses in child development and early childhood education when she discovered she was going to be a mom. She experienced many challenges after the birth of her son and daughter, including anxiety, tongue ties and breastfeeding difficulties. Having faced a year and a half of sleepless nights and short naps with her intense and sensitive first baby, she sought Nicole’s help. After successfully developing healthy sleep habits with The Baby Sleep Site’s invaluable support, she became passionate about educating other tired parents about sleep. When she is not running after her busy children, Daniella enjoys writing, swimming, hiking, exploring world cultures, cooking healthy meals and being outdoors. She is a true believer in The Baby Sleep Site’s individualized and holistic approach to sleep health and is thrilled to be helping families and babies get the healthy sleep they deserve.
Jessa joined The Baby Seep Site® in March of 2016. She holds a Bachelor’s of Social Work and a Master’s of Social Work and is a Licensed Social Worker. Jessa most recently worked as a medical social worker in a children’s hospital, helping children and their families cope will chronic illness and navigate the health care system. She has spent the majority of her career dedicated to helping people improve their lives through support and empowerment. Jessa experienced many challenges after the birth of her son; including reflux, colic and a tongue tie. After reading countless articles trying to find ways to help her son sleep better, she reached out to the team at The Baby Sleep Site®. Through their encouragement and knowledge, Jessa was able to help her son learn healthy sleep habits and become a great sleeper! She is now passionate about helping other families get the sleep they need! When Jessa is not chasing after her lovable, energetic, adventurous toddler she enjoys yoga, gardening and DIY projects.
Bonnie joined The Baby Sleep Site® team in October 2014. She has a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology. Bonnie is also a Singer/Songwriter. Bonnie experienced many challenges with her own daughter’s sleep such as colic, reflux, as well as a lip & tongue tie. Bonnie and her husband struggled horribly with her daughter’s sleep issues, in many cases waking 6-9 times a night. Those many sleepless nights wrecked havoc on Bonnie’s postpartum depression. After reading many articles and scouring the internet for solutions, Bonnie reached out to Nicole and her team here at The Baby Sleep Site®. She was very grateful to get help and relief. Empowered with this new information, and a baby that would sleep through the night, Bonnie turned her efforts to helping other tired parents find the answers they need to their child’s sleep problems. She loves to chase around her silly, creative, and lovable 2 year old daughter.

She also researches sleep neurobiology as it relates to nutrition and mood.
After having a beautiful baby boy, Kelly experienced severe post-partum depression and is now passionate about sharing her expertise and experience to help others during their moments of challenge. When not working, Kelly enjoys being outdoors, reading, running, being at the beach and camping with her family.
Danielle has her Master’s Degree in Counseling and her Bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Development. She has always had a passion for working with and helping families. Danielle has previous experience providing counseling to at risk youth and families, as well as working with children with special needs and their families. Danielle has developed a strong passion for the importance of quality sleep for infants, toddlers and families.
Sarah joined The Baby Sleep Site® team in September 2013 and holds a BS in Human Development. She is a certified General Ed. and Special Ed. teacher in Texas as well as a licensed Social Worker. She started her career in Early Childhood Intervention for the State of Texas, working with parents to help their children, birth to three, with various developmental and special needs in the home setting. She then went on to further her career in Special Education and taught an elementary Autism unit focusing on Applied Behavior Analysis in a public school. She became more involved in researching sleep when her first child was born. Through colic, breastfeeding difficulties, and now food sensitivities and a strong willed temperament, she continues to research ways to help her son and family get the sleep they desperately need! She has had The Baby Sleep Site® bookmarked since the beginning! Her son is now 4 and a half and she and her husband also have a busy 2 year old little girl. In her spare time she likes to read about natural living and cook healthy foods from scratch and hope that her children and husband will eat it!

“Hi Nicole, I’m the mom of a super-energetic 9 month old called William, from Durban, South Africa. Will has never been a great sleeper, right from day one. From about 2 months old we used to drape a cloth over our shoulders to put him to sleep because if this kid could see anything – those little eyes just wouldn’t shut!
Will’s sleeping was up and down and very stressful, and I stumbled on your site one night after driving him around our neighbourhood at 9pm for 20 minutes (and he still woke up when I put him in the cot!)
I signed up for your newsletters and trawled through the articles, gradually putting the pieces together to understand my little boy and his sleeping habits. I started by fixing his schedule, and his day naps became more consistent. Eventually, at 7 months I felt ready for sleep training and in just 2 nights we had him sleeping through, with minimal tears.
I really feel like I understand his little body and mind, and that I was able to address his sleeping holistically. I’m not a hardcore attachment parent, but I do lean that way and I was able to integrate your advice and insight into my own parenting style.
I just wanted to say thank you so much for what you and your team do. I really believe your support and advice saved me from a slippery slope to depression, as the sleep deprivation was affecting every aspect of my life.
We have such a fun, alert, energetic, curious little boy who has never napped for more than 1.5 hours, but thanks to your schedules and techniques he gets enough sleep in the day and at night to be healthy and happy. As my husband always says, ‘A happy baby = a happy mama’! Once again…Thank you!”
