My 2 month will sleep through the night but wants to be held burning the day all day even when I put him to sleep he wants to stay in my hands. The min I put him down either if right way or after he is asleep he wakes up and cries. I try to let him cry but he just throws up. My first child was like this too and I sucked it up and just held him ( man I thought that was hard) nope! It’s even harder to do so now. I have a 16 month and a 2 month and work from home!! I’m loosing my mind, what can I do?!?

@Vera – Thank you for stopping by our sleepy little village. I know, from personal experience, just how exhausting and near-to-impossible this can be. It is so very common for newborns and young babies to prefer to sleep “close” to or on you as they like the recreated “womb” feeling of being snuggled closely. This is one reason swaddling is so effective for some babies.

Beginning to lay the foundations for healthy sleep habits from the newborn stage can go a long way in ensuring your son gets the sleep he needs. We generally advise our parents that it is never too soon to start teaching your baby healthy sleeping habits even though we discourage a “formal” or strict sleep training program until your baby is at least 4 months old. There are various, more gentle techniques you can use with your little guy though. See this article for a few tips: https://www.babysleepsite.com/newborns/2-month-old-baby-sleep-tips/

Or, if you prefer to work one-on-one with one of our consultants who can develop a personalized sleep plan for your situation, you can consider one of our consultation options, which you can read more about here: http://www.babysleepsite.com/services

      Hang in there, Vera!

I scoured the internet looking for sleep help and signed up and paid for three different services before finding and deciding that Nicole and Baby Sleep Site were the place for my baby and me. I really appreciate Nicole’s approach, and I would call it much more “baby friendly” than the other consultants (that will remain nameless). I have received SOO much one on one help, and Nicole has gone above and beyond her duties to help, and with compassion.
It may very well have been me who asked her if my case was the toughest. It sure has felt that way, but Nicole has been there every baby step along the way, and will continue to be…
Our sleep problems are still FAR from perfect, but I know that we will keep trying, and I know that my lost and alone in sleep deprivation feelings will fade with a few kind and knowledgeable typed words from someone who has been there.
Thanks Nicole, and you will be hearing from me tomorrow…
