I still vividly remember a dream I had when I was a kid, maybe 7 or 8 years old. I was riding my cousins blue bike on our dairy when the witch from the Wizard of Oz started following me on her broom. No matter where I hid she found me. The dairy was deserted and I couldn’t find anyone to help me. Right before she was about to grab me I woke up.

My mom told me it was just a dream, she had to work in the morning and I needed to go to bed.

I still remember the “Belly-Button Woman” from my nightmares as a child! She had a long index finger that she used to “suck” the life out of you from your belly-button. Thankfully, she never got me – but I can’t say the same for the 7 dwarves who were in my dream one night! Poor Dopey!
My parents response to my bad dreams were to let me cuddle with them for a little while in their bed – but once my dad gave me the little pat on my back, that was the signal to go back to my own bed. It worked for me! 🙂

I do not remember if i have a bad dream when i was a child. But my 6 years old son told me, he had a bad dream. Last time i just noticed him crying while sleeping, i wake him up and force him to be awake so that we can talk about why he cried. He told me: “mommy i dreaming a bad dream but i can’t remember what is it” but he’s tears still falling to his eyes. I don’t what to say but i still told him “baby it’s just a dream”.

My child is 2yo. She hates sleeping by herself. we’ve been trying to sleep train her so there’s usually some (alot of) distress before she falls asleep. She has been crying hysterically at night without waking up. I think I will incorporate a ‘debrief’ session before she sleeps and see if that helps.
